Well - it's been exactly 5 months since I've written anything here. Life has been insane since then. Some highlights:

- I got into graduate school. To not make this too long, I had interviews at several schools, including Northwestern and UPenn. I ended up getting an incredible offer from the Northwestern Linguistics department. They took four of us as first years. I am fully funded through my entire PhD, meaning they pay for all my tuition and give me a stipend of over $18,000 per year. I'm funded through the summers and everything. Basically, if all goes according to plan, I'll have my PhD when I'm 26. This is all a little scary and ridiculous. I'm really incredibly terrified about moving, but more about that later.

- I graduated from college. Yesterday, in fact. It was really amazing. It was pouring rain for most of the ceremony, but I sat with my College of Fine Arts kids, with whom I've not spent nearly enough time. The highlight of the BIG ceremony - one of my favourite professors - Shev, my music history professor last year - got the highest teaching prize at BU. We were standing and screaming for almost the entire thing. I cried through large parts of the speech about him. They talked about how he ends his class, telling us he's learned more from us than we have from him, etc. He also donated his prize to John Daverio's fund, which was really moving (John Daverio was another music history professor who was found dead last year after going missing for a very long period of time and also Shev's best friend). I didn't go to the CFA ceremony, but did go to the linguistics ceremony ... where I got a prize. I won the Ken Hale Linguistics Award - which was awesome. I got all sorts of fun linguistics books. I was very pleased. My Aunt Betsy bought us extremely good champagne at dinner on Saturday, and my daddy bought us good wine at dinner on Sunday. I'm spoiled. I also got the World's Cutest Coach Purse. Quite fun times.

- I won the Scarlet Key award. Basically, 20 or so of us were awarded the university's highest non-academic award. We had a huge ceremony for it, during which the President of the University was awarded an honorary Scarlet Key. I got the World's Cutest Dress for it. It was black with white polka dots and with a red flower. I love it and want to wear it all the time.

- I'm going to be a summer RA ... and work for Orientation again. I'm already exhausted ... :)

- Boys and such are confusing and frustrating as per usual. I'm just terribly indecisive. If you'd like to hear me whine and complain feel free to IM, but I won't bore everyone who might happen upon this.

- Life in general has been so amazing and perfect. I'm so sad to leave this city. I'm scared of moving to Chicago ... back to the midwest, etc. I have been just an absolute wreck ... sobbing every time anyone leaves ... sobbing any time I think about leaving ... sobbing basically 90% of the time. I'll be fine I know. I know Evanston's great. I know I have great opportunities. I know I should be happier than I am ... but I'm so scared about this ....
